On Sunday 8 February, the Slough Town Community Team welcomed Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight to Arbour Park for an 11-a-side fixture.
This was the first meeting between the two sides and forms part of the club’s continued efforts to build connections with other community teams. It also allows us to offer more competitive 11-a-side football alongside the Berkshire, Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Inclusive League (BOBi), where Slough Town currently have two teams competing.
The match proved to be a very positive experience for everyone involved, with plenty for the players to learn from in a convincing Slough victory. The squad have been working extremely hard to play positive, exciting football, and it was encouraging to see those efforts beginning to take shape on the pitch.
It has been a real pleasure to watch the players grow in confidence and ability, each overcoming their own personal challenges while taking great pride in representing the club.
We thank Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight for making the journey and wish them the very best for the remainder of the season. We look forward to meeting them again in the future.
