Our restructured pathway is designed to give every young player the opportunity to grow, progress, and ultimately represent Slough Town FC at senior level. Slough Town FC Academy - Programme Overview
Slough Town FC Academy provides a clear, structured pathway designed to support player development from grassroots age groups through to senior football. The academy combines high-quality coaching, competitive match environments, and educational opportunities to create a professional and well-rounded experience for all players.
Girls Academy (U12s – U18s)
The Girls Academy offers a strong foundation for young players at Under 12s, Under 14s, Under 15s, and Under 18s levels.
- Training Schedule: Two evenings per week
- Fixtures: Weekend matches in the Junior Premier League (JPL)
- Focus: Technical development, tactical understanding, and enjoyment within a structured environment
- Coaching: Delivered by experienced staff with regular feedback and player support
The programme is designed to nurture talent and build confidence, with a clear emphasis on long-term development.
Pathway: Players progress toward the Women’s First Team, which competes at Tier 6. Opportunities are provided for players to experience senior football environments where appropriate, supported by individual development plans.
Full-Time Programme (U18s - Performance & Shadow Squads
The Full-Time Programme is the starting point of the club’s elite pathway for post-16 players.
- Training Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Squads: Performance & Shadow Squads (U18s)
- Fixtures: National League Academy South (Wednesdays)
- Additional Competitions: FA Youth Cup (reached First Round in 2025/26)
This environment mirrors the demands of senior football, offering players daily exposure to high standards, professional coaching, and competitive fixtures against strong opposition.
Education Pathway: Delivered in partnership with Cox Green School Sixth Form, players study alongside football commitments with access to:
- A Levels
- BTEC Sport courses
This dual-career pathway ensures players develop academically while pursuing football at a high level.
Progression: The programme feeds directly into the Elite Development Squad, preparing players for the next stage of the club’s pathway.
Elite Development Squad (EDS)
The Elite Development Squad bridges the gap between academy football and the First Team.
- Training: Full-time at Arbour Park
- Focus: Advanced tactical understanding, physical development, and readiness for senior football
- Fixtures: Competitive matches against National League & National League South academies
- Opportunities:
- Exposure to First Team training and matchdays
- External senior football experience
Players are placed in a demanding environment designed to build resilience, professionalism, and consistency.
Progression: The EDS is the final stage before First Team integration.
First Team Pathway
The academy provides a clear and realistic route into senior football at Slough Town FC.
- Men’s Pathway: Full-Time Programme → Elite Development Squad → First Team
- Women’s Pathway: Girls Academy → Women’s First Team (Tier 6)
Across both pathways, players receive:
- Individual Development Plans tailored to their progression
- Regular evaluations and feedback
