I am a Slough Town fan myself now and wish the club continued success going forward
Tony Fontenelle
Slough Town Football Club can confirm that Tony Fontenelle has departed his role as Assistant Manager.
Affectionately known as “Yella” throughout the footballing community, Tony joined the Rebels’ management team in December 2022, shortly after Scott Davies’ appointment as First Team Manager. Having previously worked alongside Scott during their time at Dunstable Town in 2013, the pair reunited at Arbour Park and went on to form a close and effective working relationship.
During his time at the club, Yella played a key role behind the scenes, bringing energy, commitment and a genuine passion for the game that was evident in everything he did. His enthusiasm and drive proved invaluable within the dressing room environment, while his support for players and staff alike helped foster a strong and united culture.
Tony also brought with him a wealth of experience from his own playing and coaching career, having featured for clubs including Arlesey Town, Hitchin Town and Dunstable Town, where he later stepped into a management role, before continuing his coaching journey with Barton Rovers. That experience, combined with his personality and dedication, made him a highly respected figure at the club.
Yella had the following to say:
“After three and a half fantastic years, I’ve decided the time is right to step down as Assistant Manager at this great club. I’m incredibly grateful for the journey, the people, and the memories.
“The way I was made to feel part of it from day one by everyone connected to the club will stay with me forever. The first win as a management team at Oxford City, the FA Cup runs, and the backs-against-the-wall mentality are all moments I’ll cherish.
“The fans — or rather, the supporters — you always stuck by us, even when I felt we didn’t deserve it at times. That’s what I will remember most, and I look back on my time at Slough Town with great pride.
“I’d like to thank the players, the management team, and the board for their support. Finally, I would like to place on record my thanks to Scotty Davies for having the courage and faith to appoint me — none of this would have happened if it wasn’t for him.
“I am a Slough Town fan myself now and wish the club continued success going forward.”
Ashley Smith, CEO added:
“After three and a half years at the club, Yella has chosen to move on.
“Naturally, with Scott moving on last week, this hasn’t come as a complete surprise, but we are genuinely sorry to see him go.
“Yella has been a key part of our journey and quickly became a fans’ favourite — a testament to his hard work, infectious personality, and the positive impact he has had across the club.
“He leaves with every right to feel proud of the role he has played in some truly memorable moments during his time with us, and he will always be warmly remembered at Arbour Park.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Yella for his service, outstanding professionalism, and unwavering commitment to the club. We wish him every success for the future.
“Once a Rebel, always a Rebel.”
Everyone at Slough Town would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Tony for his contribution over the past few years. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future.
