Slough Town Football Club is delighted to confirm that the club has exercised an option in Ruben Shakpoke’s contract, extending his stay at Arbour Park until June 2027.
The 22-year-old striker joined the Rebels from Welling United for an undisclosed fee in November 2025 and quickly showed why he is regarded as an exciting young talent with a bright future in the game.
Arriving with an impressive footballing background after progressing through the academies of Norwich City, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion before stepping into senior football, Shakpoke adapted well to life at National League South level and made a positive impact during his first season in amber and blue.
Last season Ruben made 24 appearances and scored seven goals, opening his account on his debut against Farnborough.
He also delivered several important moments throughout the campaign, finding the net in the 3-0 home victory over Chesham United, scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Weston-super-Mare and playing a key role in the excellent 3-2 victory away at Hornchurch.
An energetic and athletic forward blessed with pace and an eye for goal, Ruben’s movement and willingness to stretch defences made him an important attacking option throughout the season.
Exercising the option to extend his contract represents another positive step as Alan Julian continues preparations for the 2026/27 campaign, and everyone at the club is excited to see Ruben continue his development and build on a promising first season with the Rebels.
