New Slough Town manager Steve Bateman this week announced his management team that will replace the outgoing Steve Roberts and Calvin Maye.

In comes Darren Salton as assistant manager with John Lawford appointed as first-team coach.

Darren Salton follows Bateman to the Rebels from Hemel Hempstead Town where he helped the Rebels boss achieve so much success with the Southern Premier League side.

In his playing career Darren was capped six times by the Scotland Under-21 side, making his U-21 debut against Denmark in 1992. He was a promising central defender at Luton Town and it was percieved by all those behind the scenes at Kenilworth Road that he would go right to the very top until he was involved in a car crash, which sadly forced him to retire from the game at an early age.

Darren now holds a UEFA B licence, and has also managed Hitchin Town. In his first full season as Hitchin manager, the club won its biggest honour in 36 years- the Errea Cup.

John Lawford probably needs little introduction to those who follow non-league football. A prolific scorer at non-league level who has played for a number of non-league clubs including Aylesbury, Chesham United, Harrow Borough, Boreham Wood and Hemel Hempstead.

John has appeared for these clubs many times over the years when they have played the Rebels and like Darren will be a welcome addition to the management staff.
