Slough Town's youth side made the step up into Allied Counties football with a great deal of maturity this season and their result has seen them lift the Central Division title on goal difference.

The league fixtures set the clash up perfectly, with a three goal winning margin enough for the home side to pinch the title from under the Rebels noses.

An encouraging first half performance which had seen Slough take the lead through top scorer Stanley Mugisha had looked to set the table toppers on their way to yet another victory, but Chalfont, with their own title aspirations, had other ideas.

The two sides showed their pedigree in the first half and there appeared to be little to separate the two sides as the scoreline suggested.

The start of the second half saw two quick goals for Chalfont which set the momentum for the rest of the half as the home side piled forwards in search of the two goals they would need to get top spot.

However, some great last ditch defending and a superb all round team effort, something which has always been present under Tony Thompsons guidance, saw the Rebels through.

Slough were under pressure for the majority of the half but were still able to fashion a few chances at the other end with Mugisha firing just wide and Shariff firing wide from distance as gaps began to appear at the back for Chalfont.

A sterling performance at the heart of the Slough defence from Daniel Hicks, who must have covered every blade of grass on the night, typified the Rebels resolve on the night and took them to a deserved league title despite the loss on the evening.
