Bateman brings in Gumbs as duo sign-on

Slough Town Manager Steve Bateman has today confirmed that popular former striker Roy Gumbs will join the Rebels coaching staff this season.

Gumbs will join the Rebels boss and work in a team alongside new assistant Dave Anderson and coach John Lawford and youth team boss Tony Thompson.

The striker, who announced his retirement from the game last season begrudgingly left the Rebels due to a lack of first-team opportunities in his final season as a player kept in touch with the Rebels manager, and Gumbs enthusiasm and commitment will no doubt add quality to an already impressive coaching line-up.

Also confirmed today are new arrivals Terry O'Connor and returnee Sean Byrne. O'Connor is a right-back/right-winger will be well known to Rebels fans having played against the Rebels locally for Windsor, Beaconsfield SYCOB and Burnham. Terry is of course brother of fellow Rebels striker Craig.

Sean Byrne arrives back at the club after a short spell out of the game. Byrne was originally one of Steve Bateman's first signing's for Slough, scoring on his debut two seasons ago in a vital 0-4 victory for the Rebels away against Bishop's Cleeve in the South & West league. The midfielder is a former West Ham junior who has also represented Ireland at youth level.
