Bateman confirms Burnell signing
Manager Steve Bateman moves to boost his striking options with the signing of Danny Burnell.
I know there is lots more to come from him, building on his impressive goalscoring achievements so far Steve Bateman Slough Town manager Steve Bateman has boosted his strike force with the signing of prolific striker Danny Burnell from Ryman Premier League side Wealdstone.
22-year-old Burnell, who joined Wealdstone in the summer from play-off winners Chesham United where he scored 90 goals in 150 for "The Generals", found his opportunities limited - making just 9 appearances this season, 6 of which came from the substitutes bench.
Despite the lack of opportunities, Burnell scored four goals for the club, all of which came in their 7-0 FA Cup victory over Tring Athletic, earning him a nomination for E.ON Player of the Round.
On his new signing manager Steve Bateman commented: "I am delighted to confirm the signing of Danny Burnell from Wealdstone FC.
"Danny is a proven goalscorer at our level having enjoyed a particularly successful spell at Chesham United.
"He is a lad whose progress I have kept tabs on during the last couple of years and I'm delighted he has agreed to join Slough Town FC.
"At 22 years old, I know there is lots more to come from him, building on his impressive goalscoring achievements so far.
"Please join me in wishing Danny a long and successful career in a Slough Town shirt."
Burnell immediately joins the squad for this Saturday's home league fixture against Daventry.
