Slough Town Football Club can confirm that Wiktor Makowski has completed a permanent transfer to Worthing for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old joined the club last summer, making his return to Arbour Park having originally come through the A23 Academy.

He spent the previous two seasons at Flackwell Heath, winning the Combined Counties Premier Division North title and helping the club reach the Southern League Division One Central play-off final and the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Cup final, scoring 41 goals during that campaign to add to the 20 he netted the previous season.

Making the transition to National League South this season, Wiktor scored 19 goals in all competitions in 41 appearances, including 13 in the league and four in the FA Cup. That tally included memorable strikes against Macclesfield (Second Round) and Altrincham (First Round), along with crucial goals against Enfield Town and Welling United in the qualifying rounds.

Wiktor has played a big role in our upturn in form since Christmas, scoring eight goals in his last 12 games.

Statement from Club CEO Ashley Smith regarding Wiktor’s departure:

“Whilst we are extremely disappointed to see Wiktor leave the club, following conversations with him and his representatives in January we were aware that he had a desire to seek a new challenge in the summer when his contract was due to expire.

“Therefore, Scott and I felt it was in the best interests of all parties to explore opportunities for an earlier exit with a transfer fee, rather than allowing his contract to run down and him to leave in the summer, with the club only receiving a compensation payment. We received and accepted two offers earlier this week.

“We would like to wish Wiktor every success for the future. His move further demonstrates the club’s ability, and Scott’s, to uncover talented players and develop them, while also generating transfer fees that support the long-term sustainability of the club.”

Manager Scott Davies added:

“Firstly, I want to say a massive thank you to Wiktor for what he has done not only for the team, but also for the club this season.

“There’s no question he has played an influential role in scoring a number of important goals, both in the league and the FA Cup, which have contributed to our success.

“It’s always disappointing to lose a player, but the lure of full-time football was too big an opportunity for Wiktor to turn down and he leaves with our very best wishes.

“When we spoke last summer, my promise to Wiktor was that we would play a part in helping him get to where he wants to be. From the club’s perspective, I feel we have achieved that.

“He is another of many players we have now moved on for a fee, and another progressing to become a professional footballer, which as a club we take great pride in.

“Everyone at the club wishes you well. Good luck, Wik!”

Makowski’s move continues a recent trend of players progressing from Slough Town into the full-time game, reflecting the club’s commitment to identifying and developing talented players.

Everyone at the club thanks Wiktor for his efforts during his time at Arbour Park and wishes him every success for the future.
