What an incredible season it's been for our Community Team!
Both of our Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Inclusive (BOBI) teams improved on last season's performances, with each side finishing second in their respective leagues.
Premiership Team
Managed by Peter Slade, our Premiership side made a slow start as they adapted to the physical demands of the league. However, after a series of hard-fought matches, the team found its rhythm, turning defeats into draws and draws into victories to finish the season in outstanding form.
Peter reflected on the campaign:
"The Premiership team had a season that defined community and teamwork. After a bright start, the team struggled with consistency and slipped down the table. There was a real coming together and renewed focus, with everyone working hard for each other. Going unbeaten in the final round of matches secured us a second-place finish. It's a real achievement and shows what can be accomplished through teamwork and determination."
League 2 Team
Our League 2 side, managed by Mandy Butler, enjoyed another fantastic campaign. Building on last season's success, they extended their unbeaten run to 29 matches, losing just three games all season.
Having spent much of the campaign at the top of the table, the team's progress has been remarkable. Many of the players have only been involved with the club for the past 18 months, making their development even more impressive.
Mandy said:
"The BOBI season went really well. The whole team worked really hard."
11-a-Side Football
Our 11-a-side team also produced some encouraging performances throughout the season, and we're looking forward to building on those displays with an expanded fixture programme next year.
End of Season Awards
No season would be complete without recognising the outstanding achievements of our players. Congratulations to this year's award winners:
• Premiership Player of the Year: Yannick Prinslay
• League 2 Player of the Year: Sam Smith
• Players' Player of the Year: Connor Smith
• Most Improved Player: Roberto Puglisi-Hay
• Dave Carpenter Award: Connor Smith
Looking Ahead
We're delighted to welcome former Community Team captain Darrell Barltrop to our coaching team for the upcoming season.
Darrell brings a wealth of experience, having won multiple BOBI league titles and captained the club during its memorable run to the runners-up spot in the 2022/23 South East Pan Disability League (11-a-side). His knowledge, leadership and passion for the Community Team will be a fantastic addition to our coaching staff.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has contributed to another successful season. Your support, commitment and dedication continue to make our Community Team such a special part of Slough Town FC.
