Slough Town Football Club has this morning been informed by The National League that our opening National League South fixture against Ebbsfleet United, scheduled for Saturday 8 August at Arbour Park, has been postponed following the League's decision to suspend Ebbsfleet United.
The League has confirmed that Ebbsfleet United will be unable to fulfil its opening three league fixtures while its Compliance and Licensing Committee reviews the club's financial position.
We appreciate that this news will be hugely disappointing for our supporters, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who was looking forward to the opening day of the new season.
The timing of this announcement, just two days before the scheduled fixture, is particularly frustrating and leaves the club facing the loss of vital matchday revenue, along with the considerable time and effort that has already gone into preparing for Saturday's fixture.
We will be in a better position to provide an update on the validity of existing tickets and any options available following The National League's review on Wednesday 19 August.
Our attention now turns to our first National League South fixture of the season, away to Dover Athletic on Saturday 15 August.
In the meantime, the club is exploring the possibility of arranging a friendly fixture at Arbour Park this Saturday to replace the lost opening-day match. Should this be possible, full details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.
We thank our supporters for their understanding and patience while we await further information. Further updates will be published via the club website and official social media channels as soon as they become available.
