Slough Town return to cup action on Tuesday evening as Aylesbury United visit Arbour Park in the Berks & Bucks FA Senior Cup Second Round, with the two sides meeting for the first time in more than 12 years.

The last meeting came on 15 February 2014, when the Rebels claimed a 5-3 victory over the Ducks at Holloways Park in a high-scoring encounter. Jamie McClurg and Scott Harris put Slough 2-1 ahead at half-time, before Johnnie Dyer restored the lead early in the second half. Ed Smith then scored twice in the final 12 minutes to complete the win, including a late goal into an empty net.

That followed a 3-3 draw between the sides at Leighton Town’s Bell Close in October 2013. Slough had recovered from falling behind to Jack Wood's first-half goal, with Darren Wheeler, Warren Harris and Scott Harris scoring in a seven-minute spell to put the Rebels 3-1 ahead. Aylesbury fought back, however, with Lee Grace and Dom Petrucci finding the net, the latter's 87th-minute strike rescuing a point for the hosts.

The fixture has a long history, with the clubs having first met competitively in 1897.

Tuesday's visitors, nicknamed the Ducks, currently compete in the Southern League Division One Central. They have endured a lengthy period away from their home town, having been evicted from their Buckingham Road ground when the lease expired in 2006. After spells sharing grounds with Leighton Town and Thame United, Aylesbury moved to The Meadow, the home of Chesham United, where they have played in recent seasons.

Aylesbury's current league campaign has seen them record two wins from their opening seven matches, leaving them 19th in Southern League Division One Central with six points.

With the Rebels and Ducks renewing a fixture that has been absent from the calendar since 2014, Tuesday's cup tie provides a chance to add another chapter to a long-running local rivalry.
