Clurgy is not only an important person on the pitch for us, but also in and around the changing room, we feel that it will be a very popular appointment amongst the players, and one that Clurgy is really relishing. Neil Baker As expected, things have been pretty quiet since we announced our signings, with myself and Jon having been on our holidays. However we are now back and are raring for the start of pre season on Tuesday 1st July, leading up to the first fixture at Windsor on the 12th.

We have a couple more bits of news for you:

Ben Edwards will join the coaching staff as player coach. Ben is someone we respect greatly, and he is highly thought of by all the lads at the club not only as a player but as a person also. He is someone that we trust implicitly, which is something that is very important to Jon and I. He will continue to make himself available as a player and is great cover for us at the back and in midfield, however he will also help myself Jon, Trent and Bettsy out in terms of training/warm ups etc.

Also with Adam Foulser out until November and Dave Woozley unavailable for the first month of the season, we wanted to make an announcement on the captaincy to start the season, and after talking it through, we have made a decision to make Jamie McClurg skipper.

Clurgy is not only an important person on the pitch for us, but also in and around the changing room. We feel that it will be a very popular appointment amongst the players, and one that Clurgy is really relishing.

He gets the utmost respect from all the lads already, however we think his game will go up another level with the added responsibility.

Obviously with the competition amongst the squad he will still need to earn his shirt, however this is something he and everyone else in the squad accept.
