Looking ahead to Boro
sloughtownfc.net looks ahead to the EON sponsored FA Cup clash at Cherrywood Road this weekend along with the thoughts of manager Derek Sweetman.
sloughtownfc.net today spoke with Rebels manager Derek Sweetman ahead of tomorrow's crunch clash in the EON sponsored FA Cup at Cherrywood Road.
"Laurence Brown, James Pritchard and Luke Evans were all on the treatment table last night at training, so we'll need to keep an eye on them ahead of the game tomorrow to ensure they are all ok to play. One player definitely out will be Adam Dickens (hip) as he continues to receive treatment."
"It will be a tough game tomorrow and nodody is expecting us to get a result. We are massive underdogs for the tie although the FA Cup always throws up upsets in every round and who knows, perhaps we can be the upset for this round?"
"We will need to play to our full potential and Farnborough to have an off day but we are full of confidence given our recent results and we're really looking forward to it. We will certainly be going out there giving it our best shot and with the magic of the FA Cup, who knows what could happen."
"Having scouted them recently, we can see they are very well organised and solid defensively. They will also be a danger at set pieces, so we will have to be on our guard and try not to give away too many free kicks throughout the match. However, we do feel there are one or two weaknesses in the side which we will be attempting to exploit tomorrow, although I am sure many of the Premier Division sides they have faced already may have seen these and the fact they are unbeaten in seven league games shows how difficult they are to beat."
"We definitely feel we've got enough to upset them defensively with our attacking players and we'll be going out there to enjoy it and looking to get a decent result from the match."
Farnborough's title winning squad from last season has seen some changes as a change in manager over the summer months saw former Slough Town player Andy Clement replaced by Francis Vines. Some of the players will be featuring against one of their former teams with Marcus Richardson in the Boro line up and Luke Evans and Byron Bubb in the Slough squad, both of whom featured prominently for Farnborough last season in their title winning campaign.
Last season saw Farnborough do the double over Slough with a comprehensive 5-0 victory at Cherrywood Road in October before a barnstorming match in heavy rain back at Holloways Park saw Farnborough gain a last minute 3-2 win thanks to a Michael Barima strike. Following their promotion, Boro have started off in great form with seventeen points from their opening seven games and remain undefeated thus far.
In the past thirty five years, Slough's record against Boro hasn't been too bad, with nine wins, four draws and fifteen defeats across their twenty eight games. Slough's record at Cherrywood stands at four wins, two draws and eight defeats having scored fifteen and conceded eighteen.
