Slough Town manager Derek Sweetman has moved to counter the recent loss of John Gray and Craig Roberts from his squad.

As documented last week on the Official Website, Gray has moved onto Marlow to gain regular first team football for this coming season. Earlier this week, his fellow former Rebel Craig Roberts joined him at Oak Tree Road, returning to his former club.

With recent injuries restricting his chances to play football on a regular basis, Roberts wanted the opportunity to play first team football week on week, a chance which was becoming increasingly limited at Slough. Marlow offered the versatile left sided player the opportunity to play regularly and Roberts took up the offer to return to the club where he enjoyed success last season.

Sweetman was keen to point out that both players would do well at Marlow and stressed how this was a positive sign for Slough. "We are moving in the right direction and the fact we can afford to let players of the quality of Gray and Roberts leave the club on our agreement, shows we are stepping up a level."

Returning to the club are two former Rebels. Glen Harris has been signed from Hampton & Richmond. Harris had been registered for Burnham earlier in the season and has made the short journey from the Gore without making an appearance for the Blues. Harris will be well remembered by Slough fans for scoring the winner in the FA Cup match with Walsall. He originally signed from Hayes in 2003 and went on to make 138 appearances for Slough scoring 30 times in the process. Harris followed Ian Hodges to Hampton & Richmond in 2006.

Also returning is goalkeeper Carl Dennison. The young keeper originally joined from Burnham in 2007 when the Rebels were struggling at the wrong end of the Isthmian Premier Division. Despite the struggles of the team, Dennison managed to perform admirably and caught the eye with a series of good performances. He returned for a short spell the following season as the club required a backup keeper for Richard Barnard over the Christmas season and now returns for this third spell with the club. Carl has made sixteen appearances for Slough in his previous spells.

Manager Derek Sweetman had the following to say on his two latest recruits. "Glen will bolster the squad and his versatility means he can play anywhere across the midfield and also in behind the strikers. He will bring another element to our midfield and will provide the squad with greater adaptability."

"Dennison is a keeper with great potential and will be contesting the number one shirt at the club. Alex Tullet has filled in for us and will be included with the first team squad as we have two young keepers now who have great potential to do well for us in the future."
