Slough Town extended their winning run to seven with this success at Erith on Saturday, a success that takes them two points clear at the top of the Athenian League Table. Saturday's four goals gives them figures of 30 goals for and 10 against, impressive reading at any level after 14 games. At Erith the Rebels led only 1-0 at half time, but in the second half they crushed the home side with three more goals and would have had more with a little more extra care in front of goal.

Nevertheless Slough's lively pair of strikers, Tony Amos and John Ritchie, gave the Erith defence a hard time, Ritchie especially showing the sort of aggression and skill that has made him a target for professional clubs in his short time with Slough.

Erith kept the score down in the first half by extensive use of the offside trap, but Slough twice went close in the first ten minutes. After a good cross from Ritchie had gone unrewarded, an overhead kick by Amos was cleared off the line.

Slough took the lead in the 36th minute, Ritchie shooting home from just inside the penalty area after Roger Day had nodded the ball down to him.

Slough began the second half strongly, and increased their lead in the 50th minute when Hill headed a good goal from Turl's cross after a quickly taken corner.

In the 56th minute Erith's Watson was booked for kicking Cruse, and the home side took the opportunity of bringing on substitute Crooks for the now less effective Pratt. In the 59th minute a fine shot from Cooper was very well saved by Hyde, then three minutes later Slough scored their third goal. Hill took on the whole Erith defence in a good run, and when he was pulled down by Cooper, Day converted the penalty.

Erith barely had time to get going when Slough scored again! Amos intercepted a bad pass and streaked away down the middle to beat Everitt with a low hard shot.
