Rebels' boss left speechless

Slough boss Alan Davies was at a loss to explain why the Rebels failed to get a result on Tuesday night after Slough went one ahead then Grays grabbed a controversial half-time equaliser before unjustly snatching the honours after the break.

"The result was disappointing but we played extremely well, probably the best league performance all season" said Davies.

Slough wingmen Mark Adams and Tony Knight ran full backs Fox and Simmonds ragged all night and the Rebels went deservedly ahead midway through the first half through Neal Stanley.

Minutes before the break, Grays, who'd strung an unbeaten nine match run together, equalised when Bunting was charged to the ground leaving Delroy Rhoden to fire home after a goalmouth scramble.

Bunting later claimed the ball had never crossed the line but as the linesman flagged furiously, the ref signalled the goal.

Davies said: "The ref's decision on the first goal was unbelievable- half the people in the ground could see that it was a blatant foul.

"Slough continued to play the inspiring stuff but couldn't repeat the four goal crushing of Croydon on Saturday as Grays surprisingly played the big boot game.

A 600 crowd witnessed a cracking display by the Rebels with Dodd playing an inspiring role in midfield after taking his fair share of criticism from the crowd on Saturday.

But Grays snatched the breakaway winner when Tony Mahoney laid on for Rhoden to nod in an unguarded net.

Slough pressed for the equaliser with four free kicks in the last five minutes, but to no avail.
