Three Quickfire Goals Setup Rebels Win

On a bright sunny day Hampton matched Slough Town for the first two thirds of this Ryman League Premier Division game until a three goal onslaught in a 12 minute spell completely knocked Hampton out of the match.

There were no goals in the first half with neither goalkeeper called on to make a save worthy of the name.

The main highlight of the first 45 minutes was the on-going struggle between Hampton's Phil Gallagher and Slough's player manager the ex-Spurs star Graham Roberts.

The veteran player filling a central defensive role, was content to walk through the game whenever possible but was not averse to using his arms and elbows to keep Gallagher off balance.

The second half saw a change in tactics by Slough as they abandoned the long ball game and started to spread the ball around in an attempt to get behind the Hampton defence, a gambit that ultimately worked.

Slough wrested control of the game scoring three goals in 12 minutes.

In the 58th minute a fortunate rebound off a Hampton defender gave Bryan Hammett a golden shooting chance and he wasted no time in burying the ball in the back of the net. Five minutes later and Slough were 2-0 ahead, Hampton conceded a free kick 25 yards out from goal and Lee Archer struck a long drive past the defensive wall and just inside Russell's left hand post.

In the 70th minute Slough completed their scoring when Hammett, unmarked in the centre of the goal headed home off the underside of the bar.
