Rebels Improve But Still Heavily Beaten

Slough made the journey to Rookery Hill to face off against an East Thurrock side who had comprehensively beaten the Rebels earlier in February.

With Jamie Jackson being recalled by Hemel Hempstead Town, Slough moved to bring in Burnham's reserve keeper, Carl Dennison.

Slough were looking to improve on the 5-0 home defeat they'd suffered in the reverse fixture just over two weeks ago and started brightly, but found themselves three down in the first half.

Gabriel opened the scoring in the sixteenth minute, converting a cross at the far post. Steve Daly was adjudged to have given away a penalty with what appeared to be a clean tackle. Holding converted past Dennison, with the debutant keeper going the right way but unable to keep the penalty out.

Just three minutes after the penalty had gone in, Curley added a third for the home side with an acrobatic attempt.

Slough had an effort cleared off the line after the home side had got their first, but it was a rare opportunity for the away side.

Terry Davies was introduced at half time and certainly brightened up the Rebels options in attack.

It was the home side who extended their lead despite the encouraging signs from Slough as Gabriel added his second, and East Thurrock's fourth, of the game.

Slough's efforts were rewarded when Matt Miller pulled one back for Slough with fifty six minutes gone but both sides created little for the remainder of the match.
