Steve Bateman appointed manager

Slough Town Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Bateman as their new manager with immediate effect.

Steve is an ex-Slough Town player who joined the club as a player in the summer of 1994, playing at the heart of the Rebels defence.

Steve has enjoyed many successes in management, taking Berkhamstead to the FA Vase Final in 2001, managing Chesham United and taking them from Division 1 Midlands to the Southern Premier Division, and most recently, managing Hemel Hempstead from Division 1 West to the Premier.

During his three years at Hemel, Bateman oversaw the play-off win of the 2005/06 season, when his side beat Brackley Town in the play-off final to secure their spot back in the Southern Premier Division.

Hemel reached the Premier Division play-offs the following year after a late surge which saw them record 10 wins from 15 games. They eventually lost to Team Bath, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Conference South.

As well as league success, Bateman guided Hemel to a number of cup final appearances and victories.

The club welcomes Steve and believes that he has the passion, knowledge and experience to improve the club, and that he also has the level of expertise to take the club forward.
