He will be an absolutely massive signing for us. Steve Bateman on Bowden-Haase Ahead of today’s match with Sutton Coldfield Town, manager Steve Bateman has confirmed four further additions to his squad with one player departing.

As many would have heard on Tuesday night, and through the local press this week, Nathan Bowden-Haase has joined the club on a one-year contract from Football Conference club Histon.

The commanding 6ft 4 defender had his contract at the Cambridgeshire club cancelled by mutual consent after the player struggled to combine his day job with travelling to train and play for the Stutes.

Bowden-Haase joined Histon last season having excelled at Steve Bateman’s former club Hemel Hempstead, and the Slough manager was able to persuade the player to move back down three levels and sign for the Rebels, bolstering an already strong-looking back line.

Bowden-Haase played the full 90 minutes in Slough’s final pre-season friendly against Enfield Town on Tuesday evening, and is in contention to make his competitive debut in today’s season opener at Sutton Coldfield Town.

The defender has also worked with Bateman at Chesham United and is seen as a massive coup for the football club ahead of the new season.

Striker Tommy Hayes also joins the club after spending the majority of the pre-season campaign with the Rebels. Hayes scored in the game against Enfield Town on Tuesday night. His former clubs include Bedford Town, Dunstable Town and Hitchin.

Craig O’Connor also joins the club this week. Craig is a striker who is well known to Rebels fans having played for Windsor & Eton and Beaconsfield SYCOB. Craig is also a former Slough Town Reserve team player who started out as a left-back. He has also represented Maidenhead United, Thurrock and Weymouth in the Conference South - scoring goals at all levels of the game he has played at.

Another player committing to the Rebels is youth team graduate Kyle Jeffrey. Kyle was widely expected to leave the Rebels this summer to go to America for a football scholarship scheme, but has signed on with Slough again this season following some highly impressive performances for the club at the back end of last season.

Meanwhile popular striker Yashwa Romeo has joined Hungerford Town. The former Oxford City man scored 15 goals in 36 games for the club last season. The club wish Yash all the best at his new club.
