Slough Town In Youth Challenge Cup
Slough Town have today confirmed they are entering a side into this seasons British Gas Business Southern League Youth Cup.
It really is a great opportunity for the young lads to show just what they are capable of Gary Thomas The U18 side currently run by former Slough Town player Tony Thompson will be participating on behalf of the club. The senior side have already had the benefit of two of the players in the U18 side in the form of Raj Gill and Stanley Mugisha, who opened his scoring account for the Rebels on Tuesday evening at The Gore.
The draw has been made for the competition and Slough have been grouped with Aylesbury United, Thatcham Town and Uxbridge in Group B of the opening stage. Home and away fixtures against the other three sides will be arranged and completed by 15th February.
Home matches will be played on a Thursday night at Holloways Park and your support will be most welcome. Whilst the dates are yet to be confirmed, the dates will be notified to all and it is hoped to have as many supporters at the home matches as possible to support the juniors.
It will be the first time Slough Town has been able to enter a junior side into a competition for many seasons and last seasons Berks & Bucks Cup winners will be looking to make the step up against the youth sides of fellow Southern League sides.
Football Secretary Gary Thomas said, "It really is a great opportunity for the young lads to show just what they are capable of. Tony (Thompson) has moulded a fantastic side and is really looking forward to pitting his wits against some of the other sides in the area. We believe this is just the start of our progression with junior football and will be looking to enter again next year. We will continue to work closely with the juniors and look to help bring them into the first team squad following in the footsteps of Raj Gill and Stanley Mugisha."
