Rebels trio win second caps
Slough Town's Anguilla trio all play as El Salvador win the second leg of their World Cup qualifying tie 4-0.
World Cup Qualifying: Anguilla 0-4 El Salvador
The Slough Town trio of Jermaine Gumbs, Romell Gumbs and Brian Connor won their second caps for Anguilla as El Salvador completed a 16-0 aggregate win to progress into the next knockout stage in the North, Central America & Caribbean region.
In front of over 22,000 at DC United's RFK Stadium in Washington, DC, due to problems in hosting the match on the tiny Caribbean island, El Salvador took just eight minutes to extend their 12-0 first-leg lead with Ronald Cerritos netting.
It was a much better display from the Anguillan side, with Jermaine Gumbs able to make his mark by creating a number of chances, but alas his side were unable to muster a goal, and El Salvador knocked in three more before half-time courtesy of Carlos Monteagudo, William Torres and regional top-scorer Rudis Corrales, who notched his sixth goal over the two legs.
Anguilla did have something to cheer though in the form of a clean sheet in the second half, which will no doubt have pleased new coach Colin Johnson, who took over from ex-Maidenhead United coach Kerthney Carty after the drubbing in San Salvador.
El Salvador now face a two-legged qualifier against Panama in June.
