Slough Town, after making very hard work of beating Wembley at the Stadium on Saturday, lost their second away game of the season on Monday when Leatherhead took both points with a single goal victory. The Rebels are at the present moment hard hit by injuries. This was emphasised in Monday's game when several of their players were obviously not 100 percent match fit.

Leatherhead deserved this win, Slough's second away defeat of the season, on Monday, because they did not stop running and fighting for the ball. Slough, who are now suffering badly from the large number of injuries in the squad, players who were obviously not 100 percent fit and the lack of lustre performance from the injured players soon spread to the others.

The first minute saw a foul by Cooper on Amos, who was receiving treatment for a full two minutes before play restarted and after this Amos was never able to get back to his normal self. Although Slough in the early minutes looked by far the more polished side, gaining two corners in the fourth minute and putting on all the pressure, neither side played anything like they really can. Both sides were guilty of bad and slack passing with players running in all directions expecting the ball only to see it given away to the other side.

Two more corners came Slough's way in the 13th minute but gone are the days when Slough were a dangerous side from these kicks. In the 15th minute with Amos beginning to look a little more lively, he was once again badly fouled and it was quite clear that he was not going to be allowed any room in this game.

With Slough doing all the pressing Leatherhead were lucky to gain their first corner in the 32nd and with D'Arcy complaining that the linesman was blocking the view of the ball the kick was taken and in raced Reid, the Leatherhead number five, to head the ball into the back of the net. Slough continued to press forward but although gaining four more corners they were unable to level terms.

After the break Roger Day was seen to be in a lot of trouble with a leg injury he had received in the first half. Nevertheless he had the ball in the net in the 50th minute from a Reardon free kick but was judged to be offside.

Within a minute Hill also netted but a foul was awarded. In the 57th minute a terrific scramble in the Leatherhead goalmouth ended with a D'Arcy volley hitting Reardon and going out. In the 62nd Swain went close with a header but it was beginning to look as though Slough would not get the goal they so urgently wanted. With Day now in considerable trouble he was replaced by Hobbis but he was able to add nothing to a Slough side that had faded away and looked as though they had accepted defeat.
