Slough Town lost their first game in the Premier Mid-Week Floodlight League for over three years on Monday evening when Hayes beat them by the odd goal in five at the Stadium. Hayes still have three more games to play against Southall, twice, and Feltham and if they win the maximum points they will be the section winners and go on to the quarter finals but if they draw one game then there will have to be a play off with Slough. So its a case of wait and see as far as the Town are concerned.

Hayes came to the Stadium smarting under the defeat Slough inflicted on them three weeks ago in this competition at Hayes when the Rebels fielded practically their youth team to give the Middlesex side the shock of the season. It was a very different Hayes attitude on Monday from first to last they went into the game as if it was an FA Cup tie. Slough managed to score the only goal of the first half when after 35 minutes Barry Davies laid on an opening for Brown and the ex-Hayes man scored.

The Town crossed over at the break with this goal advantage but Hayes had been fighting back with more and more persistence and in the 52nd minute they equalised through James. Play continued with quick switches from one the former Slough and goalmouth to the other and Hatt, the former Maidenhead player was booked for a foul on a Slough player.

Just when a draw looked possible, this would have been sufficient for Slough to be section champions, Hayes snatched the winning goal when Meadows converted a free kick with exactly two minutes left for play.
