Bio

Jacob Borgnis joined the club on loan from EFL League One side Reading in November 2025.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who can also operate in defence, arrived at Arbour Park having progressed through the Reading academy system and earned a senior contract with the Royals.

Borgnis has developed steadily through the ranks at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, featuring for Reading’s U18s and U21s between 2020 and 2025 before stepping up into the first-team environment. He has gained regular experience in Premier League 2 and academy competitions, showcasing his tactical awareness, versatility, and ability to contribute both in midfield and across the back line.

He made three appearances in the Vertu Trophy in 2025/26 before his loan move, making his debut against Swindon Town and scoring his first Royals goal in a 3-1 victory over West Ham United U21s.

Born in New Zealand, the right-footed midfielder is known for his intelligence on the ball and adaptability, characteristics that have seen him trusted in multiple roles during his progression through the Royals’ setup.
