Slough Town produced one of their most dramatic performances of the season as they overturned a two-goal deficit to defeat AFC Totton 3-2 at Arbour Park – a result which lifts the Rebels out of the relegation zone after a pulsating night in the Enterprise National League South.

Visitors Totton led at the break thanks to two strikes from one-time Slough striker Malachi Linton - but three goals from substitutes Jared Myers, Peter Ojemen and Johnny Goddard turned the game on its head and ensured the Rebels would leave with a crucial three points.

Scott Davies made two changes from Saturday’s defeat to Worthing, recalling Tyrese Dyce and Jaiden Drakes-Thomas to the starting XI. But any hopes of settling into the game were shattered almost immediately as Totton struck inside four minutes. A deep free-kick from Craig Tanner was headed back across goal, falling perfectly for Linton, who thundered a right-footed finish past Adam Desbois to stun the home crowd.

The visitors could have doubled their lead minutes later when a misjudged back-pass left Linton clean through again, but Desbois recovered superbly to palm away his quick hit toward goal. Slough attempted to respond through Harvey Walker, whose dangerous driven cross forced a reactive save from Max Evans, but clear-cut chances remained scarce as Totton controlled the early tempo.

The Rebels’ frustration grew, particularly for Ruben Shakpoke, who found himself persistently grappled with by the Stags’ back line. Meanwhile, Slough’s best moment of the half arrived on 22 minutes, when Drakes-Thomas lifted a delightful ball over the defence for Wiktor Makowski to race onto. The striker beat Luke Hallett to it and clipped past Evans, only to see the ball agonisingly brush the outside of the post and roll wide.

That miss proved costly as Totton doubled their advantage on 36 minutes. A lightning counterattack left Slough exposed, and Linton powered through the centre before rifling a clinical low finish across Desbois to put Totton firmly in control. A shell-shocked Slough reached half-time without further damage, but also without any meaningful sign of momentum.

Davies’ response was emphatic: a quadruple substitution at the break, with Jared Myers, Ansu Janneh, Peter Ojemen and Brian Nelson all introduced to inject energy and aggression. The impact was immediate.

Within three minutes, Slough halved the deficit. After a confusing moment in which the referee halted play instead of playing a clear advantage, the Rebels reacted sharply, and Myers curled a beautiful 20-yard strike into Evans’s bottom left corner to ignite Arbour Park. Suddenly, Slough had belief.

Momentum swung decisively. Dan Roth surged into the box but fired over, before Makowski rattled the crossbar with a fierce curling effort from the edge of the area. Totton briefly thought they had restored their two-goal cushion through Scott Rendell, but the offside flag cut celebrations short.

Slough maintained the pressure and were rewarded on 86 minutes from a rare corner. Totton failed repeatedly to clear, and Peter Ojemen fired the ball into the net from six yards to level the match and send the home support into full voice.

Within moments, the Rebels completed the turnaround. Another corner caused chaos, and as Roth shifted across a defender, the referee adjudged he had been tripped. Up stepped Johnny Goddard, who had entered minutes earlier, to calmly dispatch the penalty into the bottom corner and give Slough an incredible 3-2 lead.

With eight minutes added on, there were nerves to endure, but Slough managed the closing stages professionally. One final long ball from Desbois nearly sent Walker through, only for Evans to intervene at full stretch – but the final whistle followed soon after, sealing a huge victory.

This remarkable comeback not only capped one of Slough’s most spirited performances of the season but also lifted the Rebels out of the relegation zone and up to 20th place. Davies’ side now look to carry this momentum into a crucial run of fixtures, beginning with a trip to Dover Athletic on Saturday.

A night that began in frustration ended in jubilation – and perhaps marks a turning point in Slough Town’s season.
