Basil Tuma Position: Forward

Bio

Twenty-year-old Basil Tuma joined on loan from Reading for an initial one month in December 2025, linking up with Scott Davies’ squad as Slough strengthened their attacking options for a busy festive period.

Tuma arrived at Arbour Park with an outstanding footballing and academic background, having made his professional debut for Reading at just 17 years of age. Tuma featured in the Royals’ EFL Cup tie against Stevenage in August 2022 and signed a new one-year contract with the club in July 2025.

Born in Uganda, Tuma moved to the UK at the age of 11 and was educated at Eton College, where he excelled both academically and in sport. He achieved 11 A* equivalent GCSE grades, served as Eton’s deputy head boy, and was secretary of the school’s Afro-Caribbean Society.

On the pitch, Tuma is an explosive wide player with elite athletic qualities. He has represented Uganda at under-17 level, winning the 2020 CECAFA U-17 Championship, before later featuring for Malta at U19, U21 and senior international level. He made his senior Malta debut in October 2024, winning the match-winning penalty on his first appearance.

Away from football, Tuma is also a high-level sprinter, having recorded a personal best of 11.23 seconds over 100 metres and finishing third at the 2019 English Schools Track & Field Championships.
