Shay Spencer

Bio

Shay Spencer joined Slough Town on loan from EFL League One side Reading ahead of the 2026/27 season, with his loan spell running until mid-October.

A product of Reading's academy, Spencer made his Royals first-team debut in August 2024 in a 3-1 Vertu Trophy victory over West Ham United U21s. Starting in central midfield, he played 65 minutes on his first senior appearance.

He made his league debut later that year, coming on as an 80th-minute substitute in Reading's 4-1 victory over Crawley Town in October 2024.

Spencer continued to feature for the Reading first team during the 2024/25 campaign, making five appearances across the season. His outings included three appearances in the EFL Trophy and an Emirates FA Cup appearance in Reading's 2-0 home victory over Fleetwood Town.

He also caught the eye during a Vertu Trophy clash with Newport County in November 2024, earning praise for an impressive midfield display.

After signing a new one-year contract with Reading in July 2025, Spencer gained further senior experience with a loan move to National League side Wealdstone in January 2026.

He made 13 appearances for Wealdstone across the National League and Isuzu FA Trophy before returning to Reading.

Spencer now joins the Rebels until mid-October, continuing his development with further senior experience at Slough Town and adding another midfield option to Alan Julian's squad.
